Nutrition Month 2025: A Journey to Remember
一 Nutrition Month 2025: A Journey to Remember 一
This year’s Nutrition Month was truly a memorable experience for all of us. It was filled with challenges, teamwork, and unexpected victories. One of the biggest highlights was joining the regional Nutri Jingle Contest, representing the whole province of Ilocos Sur. At first, we thought it was just a school-level contest, but we were surprised to find out that it was already regional. Despite the pressure, we accepted the challenge and worked hard for more than a week to complete our jingle production. We did preparations like practicing our vocals, creating our choreography — something I was in charged of, since my teammates saw potential in me — and filmed our jingle in different places, even under bad weather conditions. It was challenging, but we had fun doing it as a team. Before our jingle entry was posted online, we were given the chance to perform during the flag ceremony in school. That performance was meant to promote our jingle and let our schoolmates hear it first so they could support us once it was uploaded. We were nervous but excited, and it felt nice to share our work with the whole school. After that, our video was finally posted on Facebook, where audience engagement was part of the judging criteria. Out of more than 50 entries, we ranked fourth in terms of engagement. Our team helped one another spread the video to gain more visibility.
Weeks later, our coach suddenly called us to his room to announce that we would compete perform live at the division level. With only a day and a half to prepare, we rushed to buy props and practiced our song and dance performance. While we were buying props, one of our coaches called us to go straight to the gym because there was a school-based Nutri Jingle contest happening and we were asked to do an intermission number. Since we already joined the regional contest, we didn't compete anymore in the school-based one. Instead, we performed our jingle as an intermission. Thankfully, it went well and after the performance, we returned right away to finish our props and continue practicing. Even if we were tired, we made sure to give our best because we knew the contest was just around the corner. During the division contest, only three groups competed and all were excellent. We doubted ourselves at first, but to our surprise and joy, we were announced as the champions.
In the afternoon of the same day, we performed again at the culminating activity and proudly received our trophy and cash prize. A few days later, even greater news came. We placed 3rd in the National Nutri Jingle Contest. We were overwhelmed with happiness and gratitude. We never imagined that the project we started with just hopes and a few days of preparation would take us to the national level.Aside from the jingle contest, another memorable event was the food festival held in school. Our class was in charge of selling healthy foods, and we offered items like spring rolls, cascaron, and brownies. At first, we were worried because people didn't seem interested, but later on, we were surprised and grateful to see all our products sold out. It was a great opportunity not just to promote healthy eating, but also to improve our selling and communication skills. Most importantly, it helped us build stronger bonds with our classmates as we worked together toward a goal.
This year's Nutrition Month taught us the value of perseverance, teamwork, and believing in ourselves. We faced many challenges, but we overcame them together. It reminds us that even with limited time, as long as we help each other and give our best, we can achieve great things. Truly, this experience is one we'll never forget.
